A highly underrated manga despite having an exceptional art style, interesting storyline and grounded characters. The anime adaption was disservice to the series as the 3D animation made it that no one would watch the show. At first glance the manga follow the typical shounen recipe of: “boy become what he hates” with our protagonist becoming an “Ajin” a demi-human that possesses immortality and extreme regenerative abilities that trigger upon death. The series take a much more darker tone as it dives into how the government hunts down these “Ajin” and experiment on them. Other than the protagonist, most of the characters are grown adult with their own rationality and complexity making the series feel real when they are confronted with the brutality of their action. Hands down has one of my favourite villain in manga.
